Woodworking Many do woodworking for personal satisfaction and others make items to sell. Their are many woodworking magazines and clubs that will supply you with free or paid patterns but if you have even a rudimentary understanding of math and angles you can really just make your own ideas come to life. I'm hoping readers will send me their project pictures and tips to help fill the pages. |

Woodworking seems to be growing in popularity if seeing all those hawking their wares on vacant lots and craft fairs is any indicator. With the availability of fairly cheap woodworking tools from China it is not difficult to outfit a fairly functional woodworking shop for a reasonable amount of money. This together with the many TV shows that specialize in the home woodworker and the high prices that can be had for some fairly simple woodworking items. Well it seems that just about everyone is building something from bird houses to wishing wells. I personally have a complete woodworking shop but as of the past few years it has not seen much action. But there was a time when I would spend long hours building all sorts of items, for gifts, for myself and to sell. As with many of my projects I have kept little for myself and so have little to post. I am hoping that others will help me fill the pages with their tips, ideas and patterns and pictures of their completed projects.
Woodworking is not just building a birdhouse. It can be hand carving, scroll saw cutouts, wood burning of designs; just about anything having to do with wood including chainsaw ornamentals and the making of furniture. I will attempt to get some pics of items I have made and given to relatives. But truly I have a business to run and time is at a premium. My husband is actually better than I at free handing a project. I tend to use patterns that I either get from magazines or that hubby makes for me from pictures of items I want to make taken from magazines. He is really a quite talented artist but does very little with his gift. I think he is a good painter as well as woodworker and he just seems to come by it naturally. He has taught me a good deal I never had any knowledge of like leathercraft, some painting techniques, watercolor and oils and I'm sure many others. His knowledge of woodworking had been invaluable in my getting my woodworking shop going and in helping me to do that which I had trouble with. Especially figuring compound angles and ways to make an item when the proper tool was not available. He was invaluable in helping me learn to use the tools like the lathe, router, jointer and some specialty tools we have. He tends to get bored with patterns and doing the same project over and over for sale. He likes to do his own thing. His mother had a Cocker Spaniel that she was fond of that died and hubby took a picture and did a wood burning of it that is quite good. I'll try to get a pic. He also made a three room birdhouse with a front porch that was really cool and gave it to his mother. I'll try to get a pick of that as well. He seldom uses any pattern and he seldom uses his talents preferring to work in his garden or on the computer. Still, though I did most of the woodworking, if it were not for hubby much I would not have been able to do. If you have a Woodworking Picture tip, trick, project, comment, free pattern or story you would like to share please use the 'contact us' page and send them. I'll try to post them as I can. Let me know what personal information you want posted with your comments. Please include First name, City and State when submitting a post. If submitting a picture, have it as an attachment, not in the email. All posts are subject to the "Guidelines on Submitting an Article" Thank you.
The following is the same on every page and if you have already read it there is no need to do so again. The main links are on the left nav-bar. My daughter has Cerebral Palsy. I do not say this for sympathy. I have created a site devoted to helping people with disabilities find resources they need to navigate DSHS, DDD, SSI and others including the school system. What I need from you is to let people with disabilities know of the site and get them to send me information of their local and State agencies that fulfill the needs of the disabled. I want to make this information available to all for free on my site. I just need the help of either a person with a child having cerebral palsy or any disability or a concerned person who can donate their time to help seek out this information of advocacy groups for the disabled. I am spending what time and resources I have but I need help. Please check out the site and if you can contribute with any information please do so. Check out the site I made for families with children who have CP Click http://www.cpfsn.org Through having to take our daughter to therapy and doctors appointments we have come to know many parent's of children with Cerebral Palsy. In the course of our attempts to advocate for our daughter and upon hearing of the same troubles others have had doing the same we decided to use some web space and try to do something about it. We want very much to be able to provide relevant information for every locality across the country so that people seeking information do not have to spend days in search of the information they need. We would welcome any help you could give us. Any links you can supply for either .gov's or private agencies that provide for or advocate for the Disabled would be appreciated. We would like to break them down by Federal, State, County, City and Schools. Please visit www.cpfsn.org and see if there is anything you can contribute to grow the site into a useful and relevant site for people with disabilities specially those with Children who have Cerebral Palsy.
